Pipe Cutting and On-Site Assembly Application in a UAE Municipal Water Network Upgrade Project
Project details
Project Background
This project was applied in a municipal water network upgrade and on-site repair scenario in the UAE. The site involved old pipe removal, partial pipe section replacement, pipe end processing, bracket adjustment and pipeline reinstallation. Municipal pipeline projects are usually spread across wide areas, with construction points located in roads, plant boundaries, underground utility corridors or near existing facilities.
Unlike workshop prefabrication, municipal network upgrade work places more emphasis on site adaptability. The construction team needed to complete old pipe cutting, end finishing, weld preparation and new pipe section installation according to actual pipeline location, pipe size and available working space. The equipment needed to be easy to move and suitable for different site conditions.
On-Site Application
The project site used LEHUNDI pipe cutting equipment, pipe end processing equipment and assembly support tools for on-site processing and installation support of municipal water pipelines. The equipment was used for old pipe cutting, pipe end finishing, local bevel preparation, bracket position adjustment and preparation before pipe section installation.
In actual construction, some pipelines were already fixed in place, and the surrounding space was limited, making it difficult to remove the pipe sections and send them back to a workshop. Workers used on-site cutting and pipe end processing equipment to complete the required preparation directly at the pipeline location, then used assembly tools for pipe section positioning, connection and follow-up installation.
Project Challenges
Municipal network upgrade sites often involve complex working environments, limited space, irregular pipeline positions, tight operation windows and difficult site coordination. The equipment needed to move between different work points and adapt to different pipe diameters, materials and installation conditions.
The main site challenges included: old pipelines were already fixed and could not be moved for workshop processing; some work areas were close to roads, walls or underground corridors, limiting operating space; municipal projects usually required shorter water shutdown or work interruption time; pipe diameters and installation conditions varied between different pipe sections; manual cutting and hand finishing could cause uneven pipe ends and affect later connection and weld preparation.
Application Results
LEHUNDI pipe cutting and assembly support equipment was used in this project for on-site cutting, pipe end finishing and pre-installation preparation of the municipal water network. The equipment helped the construction team reduce manual cutting and repeated grinding time, making old pipe removal, new pipe section replacement and site assembly smoother.
After use, the site reported improved pipe end processing efficiency, easier control of local pipe section replacement, shorter installation preparation time and more flexible construction organization. This case shows the practical value of LEHUNDI industrial site construction equipment in municipal pipeline projects, water network upgrades, pipeline repair and on-site equipment installation.
