On-Site Cutting and Assembly Application in Mining Conveying Pipeline Maintenance in Chile
Project details
Project Background
This project was applied in a mining conveying pipeline maintenance and on-site repair scenario in Chile. The site involved local inspection, pipe section replacement and pre-weld preparation for slurry conveying pipelines, drainage lines and industrial circulation pipelines. Mining pipelines usually operate in rough environments, with long pipeline routes and some pipe sections located in open areas, near equipment platforms or between support structures.
Unlike standardized workshop processing, mining maintenance sites often face dust, long handling distances, scattered working points and limited maintenance windows. The maintenance team needed to complete old pipe cutting, pipe end finishing, new pipe section installation and weld preparation while minimizing shutdown impact, so the equipment had to be portable, stable and adaptable to site conditions.
On-Site Application
The project site used LEHUNDI pipe cutting equipment, pipe end processing equipment and electric assembly support tools for on-site maintenance and pipe section replacement of mining conveying pipelines. The equipment was used for old pipe removal, fixed pipeline cutting, pipe end facing, local bevel preparation and preparation before new pipe section installation.
In actual work, some pipelines had been operating for a long time, and the pipe ends showed wear, deformation or corrosion. The maintenance team used on-site cutting and pipe end processing equipment to remove old pipe sections in segments and finish both old and new pipe ends, making later fit-up, assembly and weld preparation smoother. Electric assembly tools were used for bracket adjustment, connector installation and local maintenance support, reducing high-intensity manual work.
Project Challenges
Mining conveying pipeline maintenance sites usually have rough environments, long pipeline distances, scattered working points and sensitive shutdown windows. The equipment needed not only to complete basic processing, but also to support site movement, quick setup and continuous use.
The main site challenges included: mining pipelines were distributed over a wide area, so equipment needed to be easy to carry and move; some pipe sections were fixed near supports or equipment platforms and could not be removed to a workshop; old pipe ends could be worn, corroded or deformed, making weld preparation more difficult; manual cutting and grinding could cause uneven pipe ends and affect later connection; maintenance windows were limited, so pipeline shutdown and site waiting time needed to be reduced.
Application Results
LEHUNDI pipe cutting and assembly support equipment was used in this project for on-site cutting, pipe end finishing and pre-installation preparation of mining conveying pipelines. The equipment helped the maintenance team reduce manual flame cutting and repeated grinding time, improve pipe end consistency and make local pipe section replacement more controllable.
After use, the site reported improved pipe section replacement efficiency, more regular pipe end processing and smoother follow-up fit-up and weld preparation. This case shows the practical value of LEHUNDI industrial site construction equipment in mining pipeline maintenance, conveying pipeline repair, equipment platform pipe replacement and industrial on-site maintenance.
